Start with the chart dimensions

A chart measured in stitches is not already a centimetre measurement. For a design worked one cross per14-count square,a100-stitch width spans100÷14 inches,approximately7.1429 inches or18.14cm. This is a geometric planning example using the stated count, not a measured finished embroidery or a guarantee that the entire design fits a selected cut.

Use both design axes

A100×80-stitch design has two nominal spans:about18.14cm by14.51cm at that basis. Do not compare only the width with a30×46cm fabric cut and ignore the height or orientation. The pattern may also specify a different working method;this site does not apply an evenweave over-two assumption to every counted fabric.

Add the actual required allowance

Margins, framing, hoop access, hemming and other finishing needs are separate from the stitched design area. Use the pattern or intended finish’s actual instructions. A hypothetical2cm allowance on each side adds4cm to each dimension;it is an example chosen for arithmetic, not a universal recommended margin for every project.

The selected cut is nominal

The Aida listing declares30×46cm,not separately measured usable dimensions after edge loss or washing. Do not convert the full nominal cut into an approved stitched area. Inspect the received piece and verify the count and dimensions before cutting or starting if the project is close to a boundary.

Choose the next purchase step

If the nominal design plus the actual chosen finishing requirements leaves little room, seek a larger verified cut or ask the pattern designer rather than relying on a perfect-size calculation. The source tools show known count and dimensions but do not approve fit or predict shrinkage. No stitching, framing or wash experiment supports a finished-size guarantee here.
