The selected code
The reference is Hobbycraft DMC Black Mouliné Special25 Cotton Thread8m(310),product5643781061,displayed at£1.50. The source states100% cotton, six separable strands and8m length. Count it as one skein. The25 in the family name is not25m of thread,and310 is the colour code rather than a length or pack quantity.
Keep length and strand count distinct
The8m declaration describes the supplied stranded bundle. Separating strands changes how the thread is used, but this site does not relabel the offer as48m of guaranteed usable stitching thread. That would mix a mathematical component-length idea with an actual project-yield promise and ignore losses or the chosen number of strands.
A reordering example
If a stock list specifically calls for DMC Mouliné310,save the family, colour and8m put-up together. A black Pearl310 ball or a20m Special Embroidery product is not the same item. If the original paper band is missing,do not identify a loose black skein from colour alone and count it as matching stock without an appropriate record.
The useful price calculation
At£1.50 for8 declared bundle metres, the derived rate is£0.1875 per metre. The retailer’s£0.19 display is a rounded version. The basket still charges the whole skein ticket;it does not sell a fraction of a skein at the rounded rate. This is purchase arithmetic, not a cost per finished stitch or measured embroidery quality.
What the source claims do not prove
Colourfast and double-mercerised descriptions remain maker/retailer claims. We have not tested bleed, resistance, shine, strength or a completed object. A retailer Q&A about certification is not an independent registry check or finished-toy approval. Check the received label and the full project’s care requirements before treatment or any safety-dependent use.
