The selected retail observation
Hobbycraft lists DMC Black Pearl Cotton Thread Size5 25m(310),product6404271008,at£2. The body repeats25m,Size5,100% cotton and non-divisible construction. Those are the selected source fields used for the dated reference. The price per declared metre is£0.08 on that basis, not a verified measurement of a received skein.
A relevant cross-source difference
Another UK retailer,Stitcher, lists Pearl Cotton5 Medium310,supplier code115AR/5-310,as a15m twisted skein. The records therefore must not be merged merely because both say DMC,Size5 and310. The source evidence does not establish whether the put-ups differ or one listing is wrong. Maker and actual-label clarification remain pending.
Do not manufacture a bargain
A cheaper15m offer cannot be divided by25m to make its unit price look lower. Likewise, the selected£2 ticket cannot be called more expensive without accounting for the put-up actually supplied. Compare exact declared lengths and retain the conflict rather than choosing whichever denominator favours a seller.
Construction remains a supported difference
DMC’s UK pearl-cotton reference describes the family as non-divisible,with several numbered sizes. That supports keeping it distinct from six-strand Mouliné. It does not establish that PearlSize5 should be split into five strands or that every colour and package has the same length. Size5 is a thread-size designation, not a five-pack count.
A focused retailer question
Ask the seller to confirm the current paper-band reference and net length for Black310 product6404271008 before placing a length-dependent order. Keep the reply with the quote. If15m is supplied instead, update the stock and unit-rate record rather than retaining25m. No stitching-yield,twist,colour or tensile test has been performed here.
